Single Review: Lara Wilson - “Trippin”

Hello World! RNB Nerd had the pleasure of reviewing the latest musical offering from Electro/R&B singer-songwriter Lara Wilson. Check it out below!

Immediately Lara grabs your attention with those sultry ad-libs that lock you right in. Set against a minimal trap beat, the atmospheric and sexy sound tee’s up Lara to deliver some clean vocals that soften the tough track.

Into the chorus we really get a sense of Lara’s tone and see just how far she’s pushing the vocal aspect of the song. It’s refreshing to hear the backgrounds during the chorus. They display a bit of the whimsicalness to Lara’s tone, adding another dimension to her sound. I say this because the higher-notes and cleaner runs are pretty all on their own, but when juxtaposed against the more unconventional tones, it comes together nicely.

Lastly, I don’t need to say this but Lara looks gorgeous throughout the entire video. The video is a great way to position the song and her look as an artist. My critique here would be wanting to see more engagement with our male co-star. I wanna see her Trippin’, as I think it would flesh out the message and sentiment of the song a bit more.

Y’all should follow Lara on IG and stream “Trippin”. I have a feeling she’s got some more fire on the way for us all. Thank you, Lara!
