Single Review: Samaria - “tight rope”

RNB Nerd reviews Samaria’s new single, “tight rope”

Samaria comes right back to walk the “tight rope” on her latest single. Samaria has been letting us into her world, song by song, by delivering musical art that is both vivid and honest.

“tight rope” is another vignette for us to enjoy, full of beautiful, expressive vocals that carry a painful sincerity that keeps you at attention. The production feels a bit sinister in the beginning before blossoming into a dramatic beat that glitters with quirky instrumentation and strings. This is the perfect mix that gives room for Samaria’s vocals to hauntingly sing about her experience. Her delivery feels powerful but controlled, with some great background vocals that feel light as a feather. Overall, her singing is stellar and is easy to follow and sing along with.

The expression of a tight rope is genius, when you consider that in most relationships, there are always decisions or choices that need to be made. Be it good or bad, one's choices bear weight and consequences. The ground that Samaria covers in “tight rope” is both refreshing and holds a necessary perspective for where we are today culturally, regarding romantic relationships. Music about relationships in the time of social media are often filled with expressions of “cutting someone off” or being promiscuous. All of which are loudly emanating from the zeitgeist. Samaria’s take is soft as it is strong in its directness. I always enjoy and celebrate when artists can let themselves be honest about their role in situations because it allows us as listeners to know and feel that we can too. I personally believe the future of music and real lasting fan-artist connections are going to be rooted in this sort of dynamic, MARK MY WORDS. And it looks like Samaria is ahead of the trend here, people.

I am completely impressed with the record, both musically and lyrically. At this point, Samaria will no doubt remain on the radar here at RNB Nerd HQ. If you follow me and my online content, I am SUPER confident that you will find something to love in this record. Let me know what you think!
